Editing Closed Captions

Within topic settings, closed captions are turned on by default and they are automatically generated for all new videos. This article guides instructors through editing captions.

Instructions

  1. Go to info.flip.com and log in.

  2. Select the Group and Topic where the video is located.

  3. Select the Topic where the video is located.

  4. Locate the video that requires a caption update.

  5. Access the More menu (the three dots). Alternatively, you can edit captions directly from the video by using the More menu at the bottom of the video.

  6. Click Edit captions.

Tip: Turn on closed captions on the video to see the immediate results of your edits.

Editing options include:

  • Edit text: Edit the text if there are any incorrect captions.

  • Combine: Combining the caption will merge the text field with the one above it to create one longer caption. This is helpful for short captions.

  • Split: Splitting the caption will break the text in that caption into two separate captions. This is helpful for long captions.

Go to Flip’s manage videos help center for more details on updating closed captions on videos.
