Canvas FAQ: What about students who need to finish an Incomplete from a Blackboard Course during this transition?

This message was distributed to faculty who have a documented “Incomplete” with the Registrar’s Office on May 20, 2021 and July 8, 2021. This is meant to provide a guide to navigate the different solutions available during the LMS Transition.

Everyone:

  • Please note, Blackboard will be available to users until Sept. 1st, 2021.

  • Be sure to Preserve student’s past work and grades before that date (rest assured student data will be retained after that date, and there will be a request process to access).

  • Students are working to finish Incomplete before Sept. 1st, 2021.

    • Before Sept. 1, 2021, we recommend you continue to use Blackboard.  Here are the standard instructions: Student Complete an Incomplete (Blackboard)

    • You can also always opt to have the students complete the work outside the LMS (an example of this is using Boise State Gmail to finish sharing the last few assignments and grades w/ the student).

  • Students are working to finish Incomplete after Sept. 1st, 2021.

    • After Sept. 1, 2021, we recommend having the students complete the Blackboard course work outside the LMS (an example of this is using Boise State Gmail to finish sharing the last few assignments and grades w/ the student).

    • If you prefer to present the Incomplete course work in Canvas, it is a bit of extra work on the Instructor’s end, but is totally possible:  Faculty Instructions: How to Convert a Blackboard Course to Canvas (DIY)
