  • Select on the File(s) you would like to remove.

    • To select multiple files, hold down the CNTRL or COMMAND key on your keyboard while clicking on the desired files.

  • Select the three dots next to one of the files and select Delete.

  • Verify the file is now removed from Canvas.

Disable Student Access to Files

  • In Canvas, the Files area automatically allows students to access Files in which you store in the course.

  • For some courses, this id useful for sharing files for students to download.  

  • However, for most courses - instructors do not need students to have direct access to the Files area.  So let's lock it up!

To hide and restrict Student Access to the Files area:

  1. Click the Settings link from the course navigation menu.

  2. Click the Navigation tab.

  3. Click the Files(…)and select Disable.

  • The Files area will move to the hidden links section and will not be available to students.

  • Students can still access any file that is linked in a page or module.
