Adding Tables to Blackboard

Summary

This article describes how to add tables to Blackboard.

Instructions

Create a Table

  1. Navigate to a rich text input and click the Insert/Edit Table icon (3x3 grid).
  2. A pop up window will appear:
    1. Type in the number of Columns and Rows you need. Columns and rows can be added or removed later.
    2. Optionally, set the border width using the Border input, then click Advanced and select the Border Color you want.

Edit Table Properties

If you want to edit a table's properties, place the cursor anywhere within a table and click the Insert/Edit Table icon again.

Adding a Header

  1. Right click on the top row of a table.
  2. Select Row > Table Row Properties. A pop-up window will appear.
  3. Set the Row Type to Header.
  4. Setting the row type doesn't effect the style of the row. Because of this, you will need to change the style yourself:
    1. Still in the Table Row Properties pop-up, click on the Advanced tab.
    2. In the Background Color input, you can select a color to be the background of the table using the color picker to the right of the text input. If you want to use a very light gray, you can copy and paste #EEE into the text input.
    3. Click Update.
    4. Select the entire header row again and press Ctrl+B on Windows or Cmd+B on Mac to make the text bold.
