Assignments Page

Summary

This article describes what the Assignments page is and how to use it.

Instructions

Canvas assignments page with quiz, assignment, and discussion

The Assignments page is the best way to view all of the assignments in a course. It is accessible by clicking through Course Navigation > Assignments.

By default, the Assignments page is hidden to students. You can enable it if you want; see Page Visibility for instructions on how to do this.

Creating an Assignment

You can create an assignment by clicking on the blue + Assignment button at the top right of the page.

Editing an Assignment

When you see an assignment you want to edit, click the three dots on the right of the module and select Edit. If you need to change more than the basic information, click More Options in the bottom left of the pop-up window. This will bring up the Assignment's editing page.

Assignment Types

You can see the type of each assignment by its icon. Quizzes look like a rocket, assignments look like a paper and pencil, and discussions look like speech bubbles.

Assignment Information

Each assignment entry in the list has some basic information, such as due date and availability (if any), point value, the module associated with the assignment, and whether or not the assignment is published. In the example above, the assignment is due on March 14, 2024 and is worth 10 points. In the full image at the top of this article, the first two assignments are published and the last one is not. The first two assignments are also associated with the sample module, as you can see below the title of the assignment.

Reordering the Assignments Page

If you want to change the order of the assignments page, click and drag the eight dots to the left of the assignment you want to move to the location you want it.
